  1. What is the annual Ohio BWC true-up, and when is it due?
    Employers must reconcile their actual payroll for the prior policy year to ensure correct premium payments.

  2. Will Ahola file my Ohio BWC true-up report?
    If you're enrolled in Ahola's BWC service, we’ll handle the filing for you and remit the true-up payment (if any) to the BWC.

  3. I’m not enrolled in Ahola’s BWC service and need help filing. Who should I contact?
    Contact your CPA or company accountant for assistance. Ahola can help retrieve reports but cannot complete your filing or remit the true-up payment. 

  4. I still have questions. Who can I contact?

What’s New from the Ohio BWC?

Here are important updates that may affect your payroll and workers' compensation strategy this year.

  •  Premium Rate Reduction for Private Employers

Starting July 1, 2025, BWC has announced a 6% rate cut for private employers. This change is expected to save Ohio employers around $60 million in premiums. It’s the lowest level in more than six decades.

  •  Reminder: No Grace Period for True-Up Filing

The BWC has clarified that August 31, 2025, is a hard deadline for both the true-up filing and remittance of the true-up payment (if any). True-up filings and payments that are submitted after August 31 may result in lapse of coverage and penalties.
